Bonaire Vacation::: Marriage

Marriage, some would argue, is not a leisure activity. But think of the possibilities if it's approached as such in this beautiful landscape that is Bonaire; marriage as a leisurely if not highly structured day of mirth and merry-making. But the time that ensues, to be married, is another issue all together that we won't go into here.

We recommend arranging through a wedding planner (and of course, it is possible to make the arrangement without the aid of paid "professionals"). The time, required paperwork, and all other bits and pieces that need to be coordinated in advance are made much easier with the help of one of the following companies:

Suze's Wedding Planning is run by Suze and Philip Joukes. They are backed by experience and excellent testimonials. The website "bonaireweddingpros" is a compilation of wedding-related services to make planning that much easier.

Flamingo Services Bonaire BV is run by owner and manager Lisette de Groot who is well known for her professional wedding planning services. Flamingo Services Bonaire is a member of Association for Wedding Professionals International. They offer a 10% discount on total Wedding/ Dive/ Accommodation packages. As a leading Wedding Professional Wedding planner of Bonaire they offer also underwater ceremony’s or your ceremony on the Caribbean Sea during a Romantic Sunset sail on a yacht.If you wish to enjoy the pampering of having a local Bonaire expert assist you with your vacation or wedding plans, or massage and spa services, then Flamingo Services is the ideal company for you. The website of Flamingo Services Bonaire is a comprehensive resource for weddings on Bonaire.

"I Do" Bonaire offers to take care of the whole gig, from legal arrangements to tiki torch dinner (or whatever lighting suits your fancy). They give a complete breakdown of your possible wedding day to entice the future bride and groom.

Important albeit unexciting information:

• The couple must also ask permission to marry from the Governor of Bonaire

Bonaire Marriage License Fee:
• $150 US funds

Identification Needed for a Bonaire Marriage License:
• Two passport photos of the bride and groom and any witnesses;
• Copies of first page of passports

Further unexciting though important bits and pieces....

• All marriages take place in the civil court building and are performed before an officer of the judiciary. There are a number of churches that can be contacted for a religious ceremony after the civil one is completed.
• If you choose to bring witnesses from home, they should also apply for temporary residency.
